Sirius Rising 2006 Water Ritual

"Building Tolerance and Undesrtanding through Education"

The purpose of this Ritual was to express change and transformation in the context of this year's overall theme for Sirius Rising....."From Balance into Being".....

In the process of transformation, there are a number of steps. Last year, we all worked on removing the obstacles in the way of our growth and our dreams--and the question was "what is standing in my way?" This year, the question we asked was " What are we holding onto? (when we release it,) What will we become?"

With that as our guide, the Water Tribe (made up of CWC Faculty, Students and Staff) designed a ritual to creatively remind us how Nature (embodied in the Element of Water) removes obstacles and clears the way for change and new growth......What follows is a copy of this ritual......

WARNING ! ! ! ! Please note that NONE of the natural events mentioned in the ritual were called or invoked!!!!!! These natural events were RECOGNIZED for their power and force, and Honoured for the changes they create……

We stress that (In our [Frank & Cate’s] Opinion),,,,,,,,,

WEATHER WORKING IS IRRESPONSIBLE, THOUGHTLESS, DANGEROUS AND FREQUENTLY DONE FOR PERSONAL SELFISH REASONS ! ! !

Those who attempt it do not have the necessary level of knowledge, or the skill to understand or control the powerful Earth Energies they are messing with…….only Deity can make an appropriate judgement of what weather needs to happen where........

Creating “bubbles” of good weather for outdoor events, attempting to “move” bad weather from one location to another DOES NOT ELIMINATE the weather condition----it merely shifts things AROUND THE GLOBE, often bringing or prolonging areas of Drought, torrential rain, etc., and totally screwing up what the Universe/Deity is trying to accomplish!!!!!

“weather workers” rarely think so far ahead as to consider the Global Havoc they may be wreaking around the world, or around the corner….

IF YOU ARE SEEKING TO DO WEATHER WORKING----- THIS RITUAL WILL BACKFIRE QUITE NEATLY, CREATING PERSONAL HAVOC FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT OR WILL NOT CONDUCT THEMSELVES WITH HONESTY AND INTEGRITY IN ITS WORKING !!!!!

P.S. Frank & Cate do not “do” weather work…..for all the reasons given above, and more…..we accept our level of ability and would not presume to screw with Mother Nature!!!!!

THIS IS NOT A “weather working” RITUAL !!!!!!!

The purpose of this ritual was to show us how Nature warns us (or not) of future events, and offers the thoughtful practitioner ideas on how to interpret and conduct ourselves during events of immense magnitude……..

For anyone who chooses to perform this ritual, remember you are HONOURING the destructive and cleansing nature of these catastrophic events, and the transformation that follows them….Do not “call” or “invoke” these events ………

Whether we like it or not, Nature ALWAYS wins out, the Earth is “destroyed” and “created” anew……..

Ritual Rationale------

Catastrophic events occur in Nature, and frequently have a water “aspect”…..

      With the hurricane, there is some warning, time to plan, evaluate, make decisions about packing, leaving or staying put in its path……..this is when one has a chance to consider options, to choose a path of Transformation.

       With the tsunami, there is no warning, no time ---if one has not begun the process of transformation, it is too late, and it will be forced upon you……..

       After the tsunami, there is frequently a drought---the monsoons, often cyclical and celebrated events, bring life-giving fresh water, vital to the renewal of Life………

       In Egypt, signaled by the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius, comes the annual flooding of the Nile…this deposits rich silt which creates fertile land to grow food, essential to Life……

The Deities we chose are Orishas who are the waves on the Ocean and the depths of the Ocean, providing an eye into the source of all Life and balance into the process of Transformation…..something the Ocean does on a continuous basis……..

Kwan Yin, though her own sacrifice, allows us to find Compassion within ourselves for ourselves………once we can forgive ourselves, we can forgive and understand others….. Frequently those who have difficulties with others see them as a mirror of their own shortcomings …

With Kwan Yin’s guidance and gentle compassion and mercy, we continue our transformation…….

The Ritual……….

“ I ask that all here Center themselves*, relax and prepare for meditation---however, this meditation requires all to meditate with eyes OPEN…. Do not close them---

We seek to SEE the Transformative power of these Events…. See the power, and appreciate it;   face it, but not fear it…. do not close your eyes and hide from Transformation….hiding or avoiding it will not prevent Transformation, only prolong one’s travel on the path to it…….

See clearly your path thus far…….see clearly that which you cling to, which prevents you from further growth…….

And now Honour those Forces of Nature which bring transformation to the Earth and consider how these may relate to your personal transformation……….”

“Hurricane! ----You offer us the opportunity to clear and cleanse! Through you, we seek Clarity, choosing to release what we no longer need!”

“Tsunami! --- You demand of us the Responsibility to release debris by washing away the old and creating a clean slate!”

“Monsoon! After the drought**, you Replenish us with Rain, creating the potential for renewal and change!”

“Rising of the Waters!!! You are the annual flood, guided by Sirius Rising, *** bringing the silt that creates the Fertile earth. You bring Nourishment and Growth”

“Whirlpool! You are the cone of power that feeds back into our circle, bringing us Through Chaos into Focus; Disruption into Stillness…….”

We ask for your Gentle and Kind Guidance through our Transformation!!!!!”

Today, we are looking at the Event vs. the Process……

With the Event, there is Chaos and Confusion---yet, the morning after, the sun rises and the work to clean and clear, the work to rebuild begins…..

We reassess our priorities, Plan for the future and begin our lives anew……

Through this process, we become more tolerant, more understanding, more compassionate, more forgiving----towards others, certainly, but most importantly, towards ourselves ……

This is where the real Healing, the real Rebirth, the real Transformation begins………

We Remember those who have gone through the horror of Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami, and others who have experienced Catastrophes in their lives…… as we face our own difficulties on the path to Transformation, let us remember the struggles of those who have gone before……….

There are many Deities who represent mercy, compassion, forgiveness and understanding—

Now, along with Yemaya and Olokun, we ask Kwan Yin, through her grace, to find the mercy and compassion within ourselves to LET GO, to GROW and TRANSFORM!!!

Asterisk 1 * ----We do not “ground and center”…. If one is doing energy work, grounding out beforehand is like unplugging the electric cord before you try to light the lamp! We center ourselves, opening up to the Universe of possibilities in ourselves and connecting with the Divine……. Once the working is completed, we ground and re-center ……….
